The Garrison Historic Area

The Garrison Historic Area of Barbados contains a network of over seventy well-preserved buildings of historical and architectural interest, the picturesque central Savannah, the extensive cannon collection, and other high-quality facilities and artifacts which help to tell the story of the largest British military complex built in the Caribbean.

Garrison Historic Area (GHA) Project

The Barbados Garrison Historical Consortium (BGHC) Inc. is a group of stakeholders from the government, private sector and residents of Barbados, who have become incorporated to implement the GHTA project. This project seeks to establish the Garrison Historic Area as vibrant tourism product thereby enhancing Barbados’ image as a major heritage tourism destination.

To date, the project has received funding from the British High Commission and, more recently, the Tourism Development Corporation.
